Gifted to the Parish Council in 1999, The Close is an attractive area, encompassing the village pond, under development as a conservation area and haven for wildlife. Located in the heart of the village, it provides a tranquil place for people to rest and contemplate. There is also a pond dipping platform for young people. Volunteers are always welcomed to help with the maintenance and development of the pond and its surroundings.
This area on the edge of the village is an open space for villagers to use. On the Queens Golden Jubilee a Royal Oak was planted along with small trees from the Woodland Trust to create what is now called Jubilee Wood at the bottom end of the ground. Since then numerous tree have been planted by villagers in commemoration of loved ones or have been donated to the council. In 2018 it was agreed more trees be added to try and become carbon neutral in the village and this has been on-going along with refurbishment of the old cricket pavilion and creating a small car parking area with a grant from The Augean Community Fund .The existing multicourt was also relined and an outdoor cycle has recently been installed.
The Village Green is a small area outside the church which also has one of the villages difibrillators in the old red telephone box. The Friends of the Village Green group was set up by a few residents living around the green when the village green was being badly eroded by vehicles driving over the verges. Bulbs have been planted on the green, the phone box is maintained and a tree seat has been added to make this a pleasant area to sit in the centre of the village. At Christmas time we have a village Christmas tree and community carol singing takes place.

The Parish field is situated behind the village hall and has an enclosed playground for younger children and larger play equipent along with a small shelter for teens.
